Our Pastor
Superintendent Dr. Jerald J. Woods, Sr.
District Superintendent - M.W. Goodman District
Pastor - Greater Love Church of God in Christ; Des Moines, Iowa

Jerald Jay Woods, Sr., was born in
Des Moines, Iowa on December 28, 1947. He accepted Christ at a
young age and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at New Jerusalem
Church of God in Christ in Des Moines, Iowa. Superintendent Woods
received his license to preach in 1976 and was ordained as an Elder in
1980 under the administration of Bishop Hurley Bassett, Sr.
He began his Pastoral Journey when he became Assistant Pastor of Prayer
of Faith (Now Faith Tabernacle) Church of God in Christ in West Des
Moines, Iowa under the leadership of Superintendent Eddie Davis.
After serving 20 years in this capacity, God had elevated him to become
Pastor of Crane Chapel Church of God in Christ on July 10, 1994.
In 1996, God spoke and laid on his heart to move the church congregation
from it's old location of 1278 East 18th Street to it's current location
of 1440 DeWolf Street in Des Moines, Iowa. At the beginning of
January in 2001, the Lord saw fit that Pastor Woods would have the name
"Crane Chapel Church of God in Christ" changed to what is now "Greater
Love Church of God in Christ." In the blessed year of 1997, God
allowed that Pastor Woods be elevated to the office of District
Superintendent of the M.W. Goodman District of the Iowa Jurisdiction
Church of God in Christ by Bishop Hurley Bassett, Sr. Currently,
he serves on the Executive Board of the Iowa Jurisdiction Church of God
in Christ and he continues to serve in this capacity.

He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army and
retired from the Iowa Army National Guard after serving 23 successful
years in the military. He is married to the former Phyllis Lee
Robinson and he is the father of two sons, one daughter and the
grand-father of five grandsons and one granddaughter.
